RUN FOR SPEYSIDE TRUST - Every £200 raised enables a person with disabilities to enjoy a unique outdoor holiday experience

Since1993 you have raised over £700,000 to help fund the running of the Speyside Trust Badaguish Respite Care Centre and the purchase of specialist equipment ranging from specially adapted minibuses, side by side bikes and other specialist sports and activity equipment.

Speyside Trust is a small; independent registered Scottish Charity, raising funds to enable people with disabilities to enjoy an outdoor activity holiday.  It provides full 24hr respite care for individuals, giving them an independent holiday with activities to suit their ability including, canoeing, cycling, rock scrambling, archery, swimming, trampolining and much more plus day visits to places of interest. The Charity  relies totally on the generosity of those who believe in what we are seeking to do by encouraging us, working with us and giving us financial support. If you would like further information on what the charity does please visit www.badguish.org

Each Corrie Competitor is asked to raise a minimum of  £70 sponsorship, or £200 per team.  All competitors will be sent a manual sponsorship form once their team’s entry has been confirmed. If you require more sponsor forms then please contact us.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

For every penny raised by you, Speyside Trust Badaguish Centre gets matched funding from Europe so it all goes into one big pot to enable us to purchase things such as:

Specially adapted minibus for visitors The Corrieyairack logo onthe minibus door
Specially adapted minibus to take our visitors around and about in comfort and safety The logo on the door tells everyone how the Trust managed to buy the bus ....

At Badaguish we constructed an under cover sports hall and the money raised from the Challenge helped us have a special soft floor installed

The covered sports area at Badaguish

Other items purchased or installed with help from the Corrie:

  • wheelchair friendly paths
  • furnishing all accessible accommodation at Badaguish
  • adjustable basketball posts
  • specially adapted bikes
  • sports equipment and activities

A lot of money goes towards just providing the staff, care and facilities for year round holidays for special needs children and adults.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSClick here to go to the top of the page

Does a team have to be all the same category?
Teams can be mixed categories ie any mix of R/C, W/C, M/B, or W/O, but to qualify for team awards the team must all be the same category.

What happens if a team member pulls out before race day due to injury or other situation and no replacement can be found? Can the team still enter?
Ideally teams will always have 3 members, but we would never preclude a team of 2 or even 1 taking part at the last minute due to injuries etc.

Does the team have to stick together on the route?
Individuals can go at their own pace and team position is based on the third member's finishing position not time.

How important is the team steward and what do they do?
Team stewards are very important for event safety and marshaling especially over such a long route. We need help for water stations, road marshaling, start registration and other jobs too.

Can mountain bike categories change from mountain bike to road bike at Garva Bridge?
No, mountain bikers can only change wheels or tyres at Garva.

Do we have to pay for the camping at Kincraig?
No, there is free camping in the fete field (a basic farm field) with water, loos and showers provided.

Can I visit Badaguish to see the place?
Absolutely - call the Centre and we'd be delighted to welcome you for a look round and a cuppa!Click here to go to the top of the page
